It's so Easy

So many of us give clients gifts and spend hours deciding on something which often gets added to a collection of meaningless trinkets.

Food for thought? Rather than buying trinkets for those who have everything, supporting the Food Bank would be one way of giving a gift of greater meaning to help someone this season.

Make a Difference

A cry for help from Tauranga's struggling Foodbank in 2008, motivated Devan Plastics General Manager Dave Burnett to donate $1500 to help those less fortunate. Usually this money was spent on client gifts but Dave felt that this gift would have more meaning to his clients and more meaning to his team.  He then challenged other Tauranga businesses to follow suit.

TechnologyWise and vmarketing took his challenge one step further and set up this site to allow businesses to pledge their support by way of food or monetary donation. Welcome - you are here for a reason and we are pleased you have arrived to help.

The Bay of Plenty Times  reported ...
Tauranga Foodbank is clawing its way out of despair thanks to goodwill from the public and a donation from a local business.

The foodbank last week issued a public plea for help as it struggled to cope with a sudden influx of customers because of the economic downturn.

The number of food parcels being issued each week is 60 per cent higher than this time last year with up to 50 people coming in each day for life's essentials.

To help out, Tauranga-based business Devan Plastics donated $500 to Tauranga Foodbank, and another $500 each to foodbanks in Christchurch and Wellington, instead of sending out gifts to customers this year. "This year we've decided not to do that but donate it to foodbank ... just because of the recession, we wanted to do some good in the community," said general manager of Devan Plastics Dave Burnett.

Mr Burnett said Devan Plastics wanted to encourage other businesses to do the same to try to make life easier for those in need at Christmas time. "There are a lot of people in need in these current economic times, a lot of people are hurting out there."

Tauranga Foodbank chairman Don Brebner said the donation was appreciated.
